J is for Jazz at the Crypt

The A-Z of Camberwell Online Exhibition

Hamley Jenkins

A drawing, first small painting and my current work in progress, all based on a performance by drummer poet Sean Noonan at the Crypt

A painting called 'Whose Love?' of Lokkhi Terra's performance at Jazz Live at the Crypt based on a live sketch undertaken whilst I was artist in residence there.

This talented collective took elements of traditional music from their own cultural backgrounds and wove them together to make a harmonious sound. To imply this and to express the dynamism of the performance I have allowed the musicians to overlap, particularly the trombonist's slider which was a few feet from my nose!

Eddie Aidoo

Professional photographer based in South London where he has lived for most of his life He specialises in low light photography, and live portraiture and these combined with his passion for jazz, enables him to take unique images of many jazz artists during live performances.
