CRYSTAL RADIO GEIST: EMILY HUNT
Sim Smith is delighted to announce Emily Hunt's first UK solo show, Crystal Radio Geist.
Hunt explores the history of witchcraft, the persecution of women, propaganda texts and the relevance of these topics for various communities in society today. Crystal Radio Geist will include ambitious new ceramic installations and elaborately intricate paintings and etchings.
Camberwell Arts Festival Summer 2023
This year’s Camberwell Arts Festival will take place from 10th - 18th June 2023 when we take art out of the studio and into the street to celebrate the UK’s longest-running visual arts.
This year’s festival takes the theme of Showtime - shining a spotlight on Camberwell’s fascinating music hall heritage, and working with the next generation of local performers to reinterpret this for contemporary audiences.
Camberwell Talks - Camberwell Arts and Richard Norman
This year’s special talk will unfold the various forms of entertainment, from Victorian times to the end of the twentieth century, covering Music Hall, Theatre and Cinema and the buildings which were especially constructed to entertain the folk of Camberwell and beyond.
Toxic
An award-winning play on men's mental health, Toxic follows two best friends, Andy and James, and the circumstances that have caused their mental health to spiral. Andy discovers his husband is having an affair. James is a man's man, who uses gags to disguise his vulnerability. Before the toxic culture of stoicism and silence swallows them too, they must learn to speak up and face their demons head on.
Max Boyla: Add More Fuel To Your Life
14 January - 18 February 2023.
Sim Smith is proud to present Add More Fuel To Your Life, Max Boyla's first solo exhibition at the gallery. Still studying at the Royal Academy Schools, this exhibition charts Boyla's practice over the last few years. The exhibition develops across his first 'Poster Paintings', to explorations through ceramic and most recently large 'Spillage' works, abstracted forms on satin and velvet in ink and oil.
Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2022

Returning to the South London Gallery for the fifth year, Bloomberg New Contemporaries is a group show of emerging and early career artists. The 2022 exhibition features 47 of the UK’s most exciting artists from art schools and alternative peer-to-peer learning programmes.

'Horatiu Bolder', Tim Garwood's second show at Sim Smith, is composed of seven reverse-glass paintings - a back-to-front process, the 'top' layer painted first, the 'background' last - one neon work, and a work on canvas (all 2022).
