Artist Bio

Harumi Tanaka is an artist specialising in ball jointed dolls made with traditional Japanese doll materials.



Artist Statement

Harumi started making dolls in École de Simon led by the artist Yotsuya Simon while studying philosophy in the university in Tokyo. Some of her past work was influenced by literature (like Sandman by Hoffman and L’eve Future by L'isle-Adam), portrait figures and fashion dolls.

Harumi is interested in Eros/Thanatos, Life-like /Lifeless under male gaze.
