Artist Statement
Amanda Bracken has recently developed a series of Trompe l'oeil 'collage' oil paintings. Using intense colour and compelling in detail, these paintings present both the abstract and the narrative.

Amanda Bracken works across the fine art disciplines:- painting, drawing, photography and object making, with a main focus on colour.
During lockdown, Brackens more expressively painted works on paper have become intimate in scale and compelling in detail. Intensely coloured- this new series of 'Trompe l'oeil collage' oil painting, draws its inspiration from randomly torn fragments of paper. These recent works explore both the abstract and the narrative. Bracken teaches fine art in London.

Amanda Brackens’ drawing was featured in the Telegraph magazine in 2004 and she has contributed to Arty magazine. Bracken has engaged in research and led art projects for Gallery education, including: Serpentine, Estorick Collection, Hayward, and Victoria Miro Galleries. She currently teaches drawing and painting in London. She gained an MA in Fine art, Central Saint Martins in 2003.
