Camberwell Arts Festival Continues
CAMBERWELL WINTER FESTIVAL
27th November – 12th December 2021
A huge thanks to everyone who braved the weather last weekend to be part of our Winter Art Market and Open Studios. Decorations were hung, presents were brought, mulled wine was drunk, music was played - and everyone seemed to have a great time.
But there’s still plenty to see and do this weekend, with panto season starting, Open Studios continuing, and Small Business Saturday a timely reminder to support our local shops.
Camberwell Arts Winter Open Studios
Camberwell artists don’t just make extraordinary art – they make art in extraordinary places. From garden sheds to Charlie Chaplin’s old rehearsal space, no two open studios are the same – offering a wonderful opportunity to check out some local hidden gems.
Why not enjoy the hospitality of artists working from their own homes this weekend, such as Peter Cooke, Lynette Hemmant, Amy Gardner and Keith Gretton? You can also view work by the late Hugh Lee, beautifully curated in a domestic setting by his wife, Penny.
And if you prefer to take in the work of multiple artists in one setting, then Camberwell also has some great group studios. Empress Mews is a hidden oasis off Kenbury Street, housing exquisite live-work spaces, while nearby Warrior Studios hosts an eclectic collective. This weekend is also a second chance to visit Coldharbour, The Arches and Vanguard Studios.
Small Business Saturday
Buy local this weekend and support Small Business Saturday (4th December). From Margaret’s Cakes of Distinction to Rat Records, Camberwell is packed with great independent businesses, so we encourage you to support your favourite local shops and cafes this Saturday.
