I See You

A short video by artist David Whyte, introducing his exhibition I See You now on at the Pigeon

David has been taking pictures for nearly 45 years, both as a commercial practitioner and pursuing personal projects. After moving to London from New Zealand David assisted a number of photographers before setting up on his own, initially in South Kensington then in Bethnal Green.

Personal professional development has always been a major motivator to enable Davids potential to fully explore the possibilities that photography offers as a visual medium. Early influences in this respect were Bill Brandt and Ansell Adams, both masters of the craft of Black and White photography with unique visions of how photography could be used to produce images.

During his professional career David's work won awards for himself and clients, and he exhibited his personal work in a variety of locations.

Following a twelve year break David has started making images again and taking a fresh look at his archive of images made using conventional methods and a unique photographic method he devised.

New technology has somewhat taken the place of materials and equipment no longer available to the photographic process, so learning carries on.
