CAMBERWELL ARTS FESTIVAL 2022 VOLUNTEERING
The planning and preparation for the Camberwell Arts Festival 2022 is well underway and the Camberwell Arts committee is looking for community-minded individuals and change-makers to contribute to the festivities throughout 4th - 12th June and before.
There are a number of opportunities to join, which each offer volunteers invaluable experience, a sense of community and a chance to work on fun, creative projects.
All volunteer roles for the 4th June Platinum Party are unpaid, but lunch will be provided and reasonable travel expenses can be recovered. Some volunteer roles for larger projects may have access to a very limited budget, but all will receive support from the Camberwell Arts committee.

Platinum Party Volunteers
Tasks needed on Camberwell Green on Saturday 4 June
help set up and take down gazebos (adults required)
erect and take down decorations, bunting, signs, trestle tables, benches, etc. (must be able to climb a ladder and use cable ties)
collect rubbish and recycling and ensure all food waste is securely bagged
Would suit anyone able to support with physical tasks on the day of the Platinum Party on Camberwell Green. Be part of the big day, make new friends and explore the local community whilst gaining practical experience of event management.
-
Music Volunteers
This is a wide-ranging opportunity, open to interpretation, but tasks could include:
organise a music stage / busking schedule / musical event on Camberwell Green on 4th June
develop relationships with music venues to curate a fringe festival listing over the festival (4th - 12th June)
spearhead a musical community project to culminate sometime during the festival (4th - 12th June)
Would suit anyone interested in music of all kinds. Possibly someone with an arts / music background and probably someone who lives locally enough to spend time talking to local music makers and venues. The Camberwell Arts volunteer team will help to introduce you to local music venues and music makers but would benefit from further research. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone early in their career or changing their career path to get some hands-on experience of setting up music events.
-
Catering / Hospitality Volunteers
This opportunity focuses on the communal feast taking place on 4th June. Volunteers must be familiar with food hygiene guidance with tasks including:
Visiting local food related businesses in Camberwell during May to request donations of food (both as separate ingredients and as pre-prepared foods) to be delivered on 4 June to Camberwell Green
Assisting with food preparation turning supermarket donations into salads under supervision of a catering manager
Accepting deliveries of food, transferring food into serving dishes, serving food at the Big Feast.
Managing feast table hygiene, ensuring that the long Big Feast table is regularly cleaned and sprayed with anti-bac.
Assisting direct and welcome participants to the Big Feast
The big communal feast was a huge success at the 2019 Camberwell Arts Festival and was a big draw in bringing people down to Camberwell Green. We are in need of those able to assist with a 2022 feast, who may be interested in events that include the whole community and those with an interest in catering and hospitality.
-
Film Volunteers
This is another wide-ranging opportunity, open to interpretation, but tasks could include:
Organise a Netflix watch party and film discussion
Organise an online film night
Organise an IRL film event in local venues
Anyone interested in setting up an online film club or film night, could do so under the umbrella of Camberwell Arts. We can also support anyone interested in using a local venue(s) to host anything film related, by utilising Camberwell Arts’ contacts, knowledge, promotion and administrative support.
-
Photography / Videography Volunteers
We need to document the festival and party as best as possible and would welcome photographers of all abilities to send us their work. Tasks would include:
Take videos / photographs of the Platinum Party on Camberwell Green 4th June
Interview festival participants to get first hand experiences
Filming artist studios for Open Studios marketing
Take videos / photographs of events during Camberwell Arts Festival 4th - 12th June
Every contribution would be welcome but if you’re interested in a more formal role, interviewing people on camera, for example, please let us know as you’d be very welcome.
-
Dog Show Volunteers
Tasks could include:
Assistance planning and running a fun dog show
Creating social media posts and marketing
Finding dog-related companies for partnership / sponsorship / participation
Taking registrations on 4th June
Photography
Would suit all dog lovers! Prior experience is not necessary to help but any experience of participating or running a fun dog show would be welcome.
