Artist Statement
Sonia has a process led approach, each piece is built on simple, repeated gestures that accumulate into complex compositions.
Pieces are concentrated around a material, a gesture or physical ritual.

More about the artist
Sonia graduated in 1997 with a BA Hons in Fine Art. She has since gone on to evolve and develop her practice while exhibiting through galleries and art fairs in England and Europe, these include, Verona Art Fair, Art Basel, and Art London.
Her paintings are collected privately and have also been acquired for public display by The Southlands Hospital, East Sussex, UK. She had a solo show in Treviso, Italy, entitled: “Nurtured Landscapes” and was the winner of The Door Prize for Painting in Bristol. In 2007 Sonia undertook a residency at The Vermont Studio Centre, USA, an experience that connected her to writers, thinkers, and makers from all around the world – a pivotal period.
For this experience, she was also awarded National Lottery funding for Research and Travel, which enabled her to travel to various parts of America. Sonia lives and works in London.
