Artists Statement & Bio
Slusakowicz's work continually questions, measures and tests viewers resistance to sexually explicit imagery. The viewer is the witness confronted with fears and dark fantasies and Slusakowicz's paintings acts as a trigger for our imaginations. Artist has earlier shown an interest in fear as a powerful driving force of human imagination.
In his late work Slusakowicz tends to penetrate the veiled sides of our society in search for a core of humanity with both its dark and bright side. Often the unpleasant atmosphere of his paintings forces the viewer to assume the position of the voyeur. Slusakowicz works predominately in painting, video, drawing and performance, often using different mediums to express his subject matter.
His recent solo and group exhibitions include National Centre of Contemporary Art, Moscow (2014); Moscow School of New Cinema (2014) and Galeria Materna Y Herencia, Madrid (2014).
