Artist Statement

Lydia combines her love of period architecture and drawing in her work by producing highly detailed, characterful pencil drawings of local landmarks, such as pubs and art galleries. Lydia's focus is on places of significance for locals, buildings where people gather, where memories are made and where life is celebrated. She aims to capture this in her drawings; the rigidness of bricks and mortar are interrupted by looking closer at her slightly wonky pencil lines or irregular brick shapes; an imperfect but beautifully detailed representation of places we all know and recognise.

Lydia works on a private commission basis. She have also been a market trader and produced the Hither Green Calendar in 2019 and 2020.
