More about the artist

Hardy’s artistic process creates abstract video sculpture, prints, audio compositions and installations which embrace the positive and creative potential of moving image and sound.

The foundational visual language of his artwork references geometric abstraction, the last 30 years of home computer culture, underground punk and electronic music scenes, and the dawn of the internet since the 1990’s.

He has been pushing recognition for the medium of digital video within a fine art context, by engaging with a diverse audience through a broad range of public- facing activity for over a decade. In 2019/2020 he was invited to exhibit his installations for internationally curated biennales in Pakistan, Belgium, and Malta. In 2019 his work was featured daily as an ident for ITV, whilst also featured in a 2-month long museum show at the Saatchi Gallery on the history of rave culture.

He recently performed at the Whitechapel Gallery, and has also been commissioned for performances at the Serpentine Gallery, Tate Britain and Tate Modern. In 2019 he was exhibited at ArtBrussels by an international gallery.

He has built a unique studio housing a major collection of obsolete analogue television equipment, salvaged from decommissioned television studios, which he uses to create electronic feedback for creating video and sound, which form the main subject of his work.
