More about the artist
Annemarie was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, where she studied medicine. She has lived in London since 1994 and works as a GP and skin surgeon for the NHS. She has done figurative ceramics since her student days and sculpture in its various forms remains her great passion.
Since studying silversmithing in London, she has been using her sculpture skills to create wax carvings which are then cast in sterling silver to create unique one-off pieces of jewellery. She uses natural gemstones and many of her rings are carved to fit the stones. She finds inspiration in the organic shapes found in nature as well as the jewellery of ancient civilisations.
